The director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky participated in the annual Conference of directors of national libraries on August 22.
The Conference was in the framework of the World Library and Information Congress: the 83rd General Conference and the Assembly of IFLA, which takes place in Wroclaw (Poland) on August 19−25.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech of the chairman of the Conference of directors of national libraries, the general director of the National Library of Finland Kai Ekholm and the general director of the National Library of Poland Tomasz Makowski.
During the meeting, participants discussed significant for the national libraries issues. There were also reports of the heads of the national libraries of Denmark, Canada, Lithuania, Malaysia, New Zealand, Finland and France at the meeting.
Besides, Roman Motulsky held negotiations about cooperation in the sphere of culture and librarianship with the director of the National Library of Estonia Janne Andresoo and signed the Agreement on cooperation between two libraries of both countries.
He also invited colleagues to visit Belarus to participate in the International Congress “Library as a phenomenon of culture”, which takes place in September 2017 in Minsk.
