The International Scientific and Training Conference "Library in the Era of Digitalization in the Present and Future" was held on December 8 and 9, at the Republican Scientific and Technical Library.
Speakers at the event included the directors of scientific libraries and university libraries from Belarus and Russia. Working with specialised library collections, prospects and directions for the development of libraries and library and information services in the age of electronic communications were some of the topics covered during the two-day conference. Other topics included improving information support for scientific, innovative, and industrial activities of organisations and enterprises.
As part of the event, a solemn ceremony was held to donate more than 500 publications from the collections of the National Library of Belarus to the Republican Scientific and Technical Library. These are publications on technical sciences: encyclopedias, reference books, regulatory and production documents, educational literature on mathematical, chemical and physical sciences, works of research institutes, industrial and commercial catalogs, publications on the history of factories and equipment of industrial enterprises, advertising and industrial catalogs, etc. In addition, the number of books transferred also includes retrospective publications on technical sciences of the period of the 20s–70s of the last century.
