From July 16, 208, to July 30, 208, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 295) is open a book exhibition “Treasures of Belarusian Nature” where are displayed publications dedicated to Belarusian national parks, forest reserves, and areas of water.
National parks and forest reserves were created in order to preserve defined natural areas and use them as recreation, educative, and scientific subjects. Protection areas are of a great ecological, historical, esthetical, and recreation importance and they are scarcely affected by human activity.
At the exhibition are displayed over 230 publications: books, brochures, photo albums, maps, tourist plans, booklets, and photos which reveal peculiarities of each Belarusian protection areas.
The exhibition includes the following sections: “National parks of Belarus”, “Forest reserves”, “Reserves”, “The modern ecological issues”, and “Following the green paths of Belarus”. The exhibition acquaints visitors with legislative and other documents which reveal the history, the development, the modern state, and the prospects of unique Belarusian natural areas such as Belarusian national parks (Byelovyezhskaya Puscha, Braslav lakes, Naroch, Prypyats), Berezina biosphere reserve, Polyessye ecological reserve, and other national and regional reserves.
At the exhibition are displayed the following publication dedicated to natural treasures of Belarus: “National parks and reserves of Belarus” (2007), G.V. Ridyevsky “Territorial entities of the Republic of Belarus: social, ecological, and economic model of the sustainable development” (2007), “Byelovyezhskaya Puscha in the third millennium: preservation and the sustainable development” (2002), “Red Book of Belarus” (1993, 2006), books by G. Kartsev and V.Semakov dedicated to Byelovyezhskaya Puscha, “National park “Braslav Lakes” (2005), “Welcome to Berezina reserve” (2003), “National park “Narochansky” (2006), “Reserve “Vygfoschanskoye” (2006), “Reserve “Sokolinyj” (2008). At the exhibition are displayed as well photo albums of the rich Belarusian nature, flora and fauna developed by scientists and photographers M. Sharay, I. Byshnyev, V. Boronovsky, S. Plytkyevich, and others.
Publications “Following the green paths of Belarus”, “Ecological tourism and recreation nature management in Belarus” (2003), “Tourism: issues and prospects” (2005), “Innovation technologies in the field of tourism, recreation, and tours organizing” (2006) acquaint visitors with the modern issues of the development of ecological tourism in Belarus.
