From 19 June to 30 August, an exhibition "The unconquered Belarus" timed to the 70th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from Nazi invaders and the Independence Day (3 July) runs in the National Library of Belarus (2nd floor, circular corridor).
The book exhibition "The unconquered Belarus" is a tribute to the fallen soldiers and the living veterans: front-line soldiers, partisans, members of the underground organization, home front workers... This exhibition is aimed to carry us back into those historical events, to remind what the price the Belarusian people have paid for their independence, to help everyone realize heroism and dedication of our ancestors.
In spite of the fact that there are a lot of scientific papers, literary, publicistic and artistic works about the Great Patriotic War, this theme of the great feat in the greatest military confrontation in human history can’t be considered exhausted and finished. Each new book is a flower in a wreath of memory and people’s appreciation. There is a Memory of the Heart, but there is a Memory of the Land, and only the Earth that this Memory does not betray and grows in the hearts of new generations can survive in terrible days.
The exhibition presents editions from the funds of the National Library of Belarus. These editions are based on numerous documental materials where military operations of the Red Army and partisans in accordance with new facts have been; there are examined the causes of defeats occurred in the initial period of the war; there are analyzed the activity of the occupation regime, underground and guerrilla movements. The exhibition tells about the great contribution of the Belarusian people in the defeat of Nazi Germany, the patriotism of the Belarusian people, resistance movement in those extremely difficult conditions, which turned out three long years.
The exhibition also contains memories of direct participants of the greatest offensive operation "Bagration", issues on the Holocaust in Belarus. Visitors can be interested in albums, handbooks, booklets on memorial complexes – places of memory put in granite and bronze.
