“The Silver Age” is one of the most remarkable epochs in the history of Russian culture. The talented poets and artists who glorified Russia in the early XX century are today well-known all over the world.

Artist Valentine Serov, the man of the Silver Age, embodied on his canvases many heroes of this unique epoch. Though Valentine Serov went down in history as a matchless portrait painter, he worked in other genres as well and created masterpieces of landscape, graphics, book illustration, animal paintings, and historical and antique paintings that became treasures of Russian art. His works are remarkable for a particular exquisiteness and rich colors and are full of life and poetry.

Valentine Serov is a very special figure of Russian art of the late XIX– early XX centuries. His creative action predetermined in many respects the principal ways of development of Russian painting and enriched it with new artistic techniques.

The exposition totals more than 160 materials – albums, books, articles, postcards and reproductions of the works of the famous painter.

The exhibition is designed for everyone who is interested in the history of Russian art of the end of the XIX – beginning of the XX centuries.
