The thematic exhibition "So that creative impulses couldn’t fade away: country’s cultural life" has been opened since November 1 till December 30 in the periodicals reading room (106).
The year of 2016 was declared in Belarus the Year of culture, aimed at approaching a new level of the state cultural policy, working out of development of spiritual culture for a long-time prospective. The Code of the Republic of Belarus on culture was adopted for the first time in the post-Soviet countries.
This year has been very rich in cultural events. There was the First International scientific Congress of Belarusian culture on May 5–6 in Minsk. Theatrical life has been marked by interesting forums and festivals "М@рт-контакт", "Теарт", "Крок насустрач", "ПлаStформа", festivals of experimental theatres, puppet and street theatres. The main musical event of year is "Славянский базар" has been organized in Vitebsk for the 25th time. There were the Republican festival of national cultures, festival of folklore art "Берагіня", musical festival "Минская весна", etc.
The year has been marked by new talented Belarusian cinema productions, manifold art, book and historical exhibitions. A big amount of events took place not only in the capital, but in the regions – Grodno, Molodechno, Rogachev, Alexandria, etc.
