The thematic exhibition “Poetry is the music of words” has been opened since March 21 till April 30 in the periodicals reading room (106).


By celebrating annually the Day of Poetry, we show respect and admiration to one of the most valuable forms of cultural and linguistic expression and identity. Poetry has always been an indispensable part of the society. It can be found in every culture and on every continent. Poetry is an expression of our common humanity and common values turning the simplest poems in a strong accelerator of dialogue and peace.

Such periodicals as Літаратура і мастацтва, Маладосць, Нёман, Дзеяслоў, Новая Немига литературная acquaint visitors with Belarusian modern poetry, Belarusian authors and their literary searching.

The exposition presents Russian artistic magazines Москва, Звезда, Нева, Юность, Новый мир, Знамя with new releases of poetry and classical works.

The magazine Иностранная литература contains works of foreign poets which captivate with their individuality, freshness, the perfection of forms, the feeling of rhythms of modern life.

Visitors can also find translations of Belarusian and foreign authors in the following periodicals Полымя, Наша вера, Дружба народов.

The exposition offers nearly 40 sources of information.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
