The exhibition Hardened by War Fire, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian poet and translator Pavel Pronuzo takes place in the Belarusian literature reading room from March 16 to April 25.

Pavel Pronuzo (1918–2007) belongs to the generation of poets that has gone through the difficult roads of war, gained victory over the enemy at the cost of their own lives. He reflected his experience, vision of the world, special imagery and melody in verse. The poet went through the whole war and one of the first made his sign on the Reichstag. It’s told a lot by himself and his friends about the military campaigns of Pavel Pronuzo, former artilleryman and senior sergeant. His poems were published in front-line and army periodicals, satirical newspaper-poster "We'll crush the fascist asshole!". The works written during the war in the trenches compiled the poet's first book Razgnevannaya Zyamlya (Angry Land).

Many collections by Pavel Pronuzo, among them Dobrai ranitsy (Good Morning) and other, are presented in the first section of the exposition.

The poet's works reflect the biography of the young generation, who happened to pass along the roads of war. They are marked by personal involvement, correlation with the author's own destiny. The country's everyday life in the post-war years, the creative work of the Belarusian people, the glorification of his heroic deed, the faithfulness of civic duty, the strength of moral and ethical ideals, history and modernity are the main motivations of Pronuzo's lyrics. His works are characterized by concreteness, accuracy in describing each phenomenon, every vital fact, which becomes the object of poetic meditation, the artistic implementation of the image.

The Pronuzo's works written for the younger generation became a bright page of children's poetry. His poems stand out a good understanding of child psychology, the expressiveness of the language. As a teacher Pavel Pronuzo carried the love for children through his life, taught and defended them, strove to instill love for their native language.

The other section of the exhibition represents the Pronuzo’s translation activity: translations of works by foreign authors into the Belarusian language.

The materials about the life and work of the writer are posted in the third section.

The exposition represents about 120 documents.
