A book exhibition "Minsk in the 21st century” timed to the Day of the City (10 September) runs from September 2 to October 10 at the National Library of Belarus (2nd floor, circular hall).

Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus, has an almost thousand-year history. Today Minsk takes its rightful place among the major cities of Europe and the world. But do Belarusian citizens including residents of Minsk know enough about it? The offered holiday exhibition will help to discover unknown pages of the city’s life, to feel the breath of the centuries that have passed and the rhythm of the present day, and to see all the beauty of the capital.

The book exhibition invites to a journey to the center of the capital during which visitors will learn about the main streets and squares, buildings and monuments. It will be a travel not only in the space but also through the time. Visitors will see how the city develops, what has been and what still is, what has been lost and what has been acquired.

The exhibition is divided into four sections. The sections “The spiritual life of Minsk” and “The city of knowledge” comprise books about state theatres, museums and the major educational institutions of Minsk.

The sections “The center of international communications” and “The industrial and business center of the country” are dedicated to the most important international exhibitions, business forums and enterprises located in the city.

The exposition includes about 150 editions on the history and the current state of the capital (albums, travel booklets, brochures and graphic documents).
