A jubilee exhibition “In a constant searching”, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Belarusian composer D.R. Kaminsky (1907–1989), has been opened since 10 till 30 August in the music and audiovisual documents reading room (305).
Dmitry Romanovich Kaminsky’s art has a variety of interests to different musical genres and forms. He is an author of manifold compositions for symphonic, folk and variety orchestras, chamber-instrumental and choral music. The composer also wrote theatric, choreographic and cinematographic music, songs, and created original transcriptions and covers of individual numbers.
His main direction was instrumental music. The exhibition presents instrumental concerts for cymbals, violin and piano. The concerto for violin and orchestra No. 2 is written with deep understanding of the specificity of the solo instrument, attracts with bright melodism, dynamics, instrumentation. The composer’s works for piano, violin, bayan, flute, domra, cello, ensembles are of particular interest.
The exposition also offers Kaminsky’s works for kids and youth: Autumn, Under the Sun, On the Pipes, Sad Reflexion, etc.
Kaminsky’s music vividly reflects Belarusian national colors. Compositions are penetrated with folk melodic phrases, Belarusian singing. The exhibition presents composer’s works for the orchestra of folk instruments Fantasies on the themes of Belarusian songs, Belarusian dance, Belarusian youth dance, Belarusian fantasy in the presentation for the wind band, Belarusian theme with variations for domra accompanied by piano, and also one of the best works of the author Variations for cymbals on the theme of the Belarusian folk song “Autumn”.
Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the composer’s note editions, audio documents from the funds of the National Library of Belarus, publications about the composer’s life and work.
