“Diapasons of Creativity”, a book illustrative exhibition timed to the 85th anniversary of the Belarusian artist, Alexander Kishchenko (1933–1997), runs in the fine arts reading room (306), from 4 to 30 May.

Each master and creator has a deeply individual goal. Some aspire to catch current realities and bring something new, fragmentary and disconnected at times; some look into the future, seeking for a harmonic whole and aspiring to create a special kind of spirituality by combining the everyday routine with the eternal laws of the Universe. Alexander Kishchenko’s style is characterized by this important feature.

The diapason of his creativity impresses with comprehensiveness and universalism. Alexander Kishchenko was a talented painter and graphic artist, an outstanding muralist, the master of tapestry and mosaics, and a teacher. His works are reflexive and philosophical, abounding in symbols and semantic depth, requiring understanding and thoughtful reflection of the audience. Art historians note the peculiar Kishchenko's "cosmism", the complexity and versatility of the images that characterize the master as a man of a different dimension, ahead of time and not always understood by contemporaries. In his work, Kishchenko tried to capture the future, without minimizing the significance of the past or the achievements of the great creators of Belarusian history, who he was himself.

Graphic materials, representing Kishchenko's canvases, are on display: “Sunday”, “The Portrait of Art Historian Lyudmila Kramarenko”, “Madonna” etc. The artist’s still life, landscapes and graphics are interesting as well.

The reproductions of gobelins, such as “A Man Perceiving the Universe”, “Music”, “Chernobyl”, “The Legend of Belarusian Partisans’”, “The First Printer” will attract the audience. The monumental work of the master, “The Century Gobelin”, which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records, will not leave anyone indifferent. This huge hand-made tapestry reflects the history of Belarus.

The valuable object is a fundamental book-album, “Alexander Kichshenko. The Chronicler of the 21st Century”, with the reproductions of the master’s main works, including the well-known mosaic panels on the residential buildings in the Minsk district “Vostok”.

The exhibition also includes articles about the master written by the Belarusian art critics E. Shuneyko, L. Nalivayko, and also Alexander Kishchenko’s wife, the keeper of his heritage, ceramist and restorer.

More than 50 documents are on display.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.

Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
