From October 01, 2007 to November 05, 2007, in the Documents of International Organizations Reading Room (the 2nd floor, room 207g) is open a book exhibition «Care for old people in conditions of global transformations» dedicated to the International Day of Older People


This event is regard for older people who have a rich life experience. At all times people respected the older generation who incarnates wisdom and the best people’s features and traditions.
Today the world community grows older. People over 60 amount 10 percent of the whole world population, in 2050 this rate may grow to 21 percent. According to the latest researches by 2050 there may be 2 billion older people in the world.
The UNO aims to provide to older people worthy living conditions and care, and render them assistance in social integration.
The exhibition is destined to attract visitors’ attention to the problems of older people, their individual and social needs, and inform community on the issue of demographical ageing.
The exposition totals about 60 documents of international organizations (UNO, UNESCO, European Union, Council of Europe and others) in Russian and English languages: books, periodicals, and mimeographed materials of the UNO.
We invite to the exhibition sociologists, social workers, professors and students, as well as all who is interested in modern social, demographical, and economic issues.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
