From July 1, 2009, to August 31, 2009, in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room of the National Library of Belarus (room 305) is open an exhibition “Audio books in the collections of the National Library of Belarus”.
What is an audio book? Literally, this is “a sounding book” or “a book read aloud”. Audio books are not a textual but talking version of literature. As a rule, an audio book is CD or DVD that includes a set of MP3 audio files read by actors or (rarely) authors. On average 300–350 pages of a common book correspond to 9–11-hour audio book record.Audio books are perfect choice for visually impaired persons who can’t read printed text but want to enjoy the fascinating and wonderful world of literature and continue their education.
