Exhibition "A journey through the ages. The castles of Belarus", dedicated to our architectural values, is held from April 1 to May 30 in the hall of Belarusian Literature (room 205).
The best way to start exploring any country is to plunge into its history and walk through key ancient sites, hear its legends and traditions. And who better to tell about the events of the past, than about Belarus? After all, they have watched the rise of princely dynasties and the fall of entire states for centuries, opened their gates to new kings and resisted the onslaught of ruthless conquerors.
The exhibition presents documents telling about the most famous castles of our homeland. Among them are the pearls of the Belarusian territory, the castles of Nesvizh and Mirsky, the Puslovsky Palace in Kossovo, a masterpiece of architectural Baroque and classicism, the Ruzhansky Castle, one of the largest in the Belarusian lands – Lida, and Lyubchansky – the last of the castle complexes in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Visitors to the library have the opportunity to get acquainted with numerous publications, including magazine articles, Materials of Research, individual books that reveal the development of Belarusian architecture, raise issues of restoration and restoration of architectural monuments, tell about the history of castles on the territory of Belarus and historical events related to them. The exhibition presents books by famous architects, local historians, writers: A. Fedoruk, V. Chanturia, A. Butevich, M. Tkachev and others. Particularly noteworthy is the photo album "Belarus is a castle country" – a large-scale project of the Belarusian book publishing house of the 21st century, dedicated to monuments of monumental architecture.
