The workshop by the National Library took place in the Francysk Skaryna Gomel State University on March 12. The title of the workshop was “Opportunities of the Virtual Reading Room of the National Library of Belarus on Respect of Information Support of Scientific and Educational Activities”.
The workshop were targeted to show global electronic information resources available through the NLB's Virtual Reading Room. Mr Ruslan Dolgiy, Chief Specialist of the Corporate Interaction Department, spoke about the opportunities.
Ms Natalia Kalitseva, representative of Wiley Publishing Company, introduced the attendees to the development trends of open access to scientific publications implemented at the present stage. The Wiley Publishing Company announced an attractive initiative for scientists from Belarus to publish their articles in open access mode for free.
Mr Vyacheslav Brichkovsky, Head of the Section of the Corporate Interaction Department, spoke about the possibilities of open access information resources and open research data in respect of the creation of an innovative scientific and educational environment in universities.
The organizers trained the university staff to use the "Belarus in the Information Space" website, "100 Days to the Great Victory. Through the Pages of 1945 Belarusian Newspapers" project and Discovery Service of the National Library of Belarus.
