Vladimir Lipsky, known Belarusian children’s writer and editor-in-chief of children’s magazine Vyasyolka (The Rainbow) runs for Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2015.
Vladimir Lipsky is nominated by the National Library of Belarus and approved by the competent jury of the contest in October of current year.
The prize is awarded annually, however for 12 years of its existence only three Belarusian authors have been nominated: Georgy Marchuk, Mikhail Pozdnyakov and Vladimir Lipsky. In total the promulgated list for 2015 includes 197 candidates from 61 countries.
Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is the international prize in the field of literature for children and young adults founded by the Swedish government in 2002. The prize is awarded to one or several winners who have made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of reading. The size of the prize makes five million Swedish crones that is the largest prize-winning sum in the field of children's literature. This award is called to draw the world community’s attention to literature for children and young adults and to the children’s rights. It can be awarded not only to a writer or an artist for their exclusive contribution to the development of children's books, but also to organizations for promotion of reading.
The name of the winner – 2015 will be announced in Sweden on March, 31st, 2015, at 13.00 on local time. The awarding ceremony will be broadcast on the air at the children's book exhibition in Bologna, and also on the site of the literary award. The list of organizations which are invited to take part in nomination – 2015, and also the list of nominees are available on the Internet.
