The facsimile edition “Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna” received the grand prize in the nomination “Triumph” and became the winner of the prestigious contest “Book art-2017”.
At the festive ceremony which took place on February 10 in the framework of the 24th Minsk International Book Trade Fair, Roman Motulski was awarded a Diploma n.a. Francysk Skaryna and “A big golden folio” for the preparation of editing and publishing of the multi-volume facsimile edition “Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna”.
The joint project on the facsimile re-edition of F. Skaryna’s book heritage was launched in 2013 along with the Bank BelVEB and is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing. Nowadays there have been published 20 volumes of “Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna”, which presented to a wide publics a full repertory of books printed be Skaryna in Prague and Vilno.
The grand prize “Triumph” is recognition of professional work of authors who have for four years successfully carried out all areas of a large-scale national publishing project.
The authors of forewords are the deputy director for research and publishing activities of the National Library of Belarus Alexander Susha and the head of the bibliology department Galina Kireeva, a scientific consultant, a chief scientific worker of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Georgy Galenchenko, an author of translation into modern Belarusian, a chief scientific worker of the Centre of the Belarusian culture, language and literature research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexander Brezgunov.
An outstanding artist-graphic Konstantin Vaschenko worked a lot over a multi-volume edition’s design. For skilful book’s decoration he was given a special Award of the President of the Republic of Belarus for workers of culture and art 2016.
“Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna” was a loud event in the national book printing, as it presented a precious layer of our country’s cultural heritage. But its uniqueness is not just in this point! Facsimile editions are presented to cultural and educational institutions, world’s largest libraries, international social organizations in celebration of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing. So, “Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna” became a visiting card of Belarus, presenting it to the whole world as a country with an ancient history and a rich culture.
