From October, 8th, 2009, to October 9th, 2009, the V International Bibliological Conference "Digital libraries and information inequality elimination" was held in National Library of Belarus.
The Conference had been arranged by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO, National Library of Belarus, and National Library of the Czech Republic.
About 300 delegates – leading experts of national and foreign libraries, educational and research establishments and organizations, representatives of legislative sphere and executive authority, public associations, and producers of software, hardware and information production – participated in the event.
Within the framework of the 5th International Bibliological Conference, the following subject sections worked: “Organizational-technological aspects of functioning of electronic libraries”, “Electronic information resources for libraries: content, management and use”, and “Service of users of libraries in the electronic environment”.
The scientifically-practical seminar “The European electronic library of manuscripts and incunabula “MANUSCRIPTORIUM”: interaction and cooperation” became a significant event.
The Conference resulted in decision-making which would promote the further cooperation with the purpose of development of libraries, increasing of efficiency of their work for liquidation of information inequality, and use of modern information technologies in this area.
