On May 18th within the framework of the Days of Sweden in Belarus (May 13th–June 12th), the literary-creative meeting "The sound and memory of childhood” was held at the National Library of Belarus.


During the meeting the presentation of the book by Swedish children’s writers Jujja and Thomas Wislander “The Kid and the Bear-Cub” took place. This event was the joint project of the publishing house “Litaratura i Mastatstva” (“Literature and Art”), the Embassy of Sweden to the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.

The book by the Swedish authors was edited in the Belarusian language by the publishing house “Litaratura i Mastatstva” in 2010 with the support of the Embassy of Sweden to the Republic of Belarus; translation from Swedish into Belarusian by Nadezhda Kondrusevich.

At the presentation Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to the Republic of Belarus Stephan Erikson, Acting Director of the National Library of Belarus Lyudmila Kiryukhina, and director of the publishing house “Litaratura i Mastatstva” Alexander Karlyukevich delivered speeches. Author of the book “The Kid and the Bear-Cub” Jujja Wislander told about her creative work, answered questions of the audience and held an autograph-session.

Writer and editor-in-chief of the children’s journal “Byarozka” Elena Maslo acted as moderator of the literary soiree. Guests of the event admired creative performances of Minsk Children’s Theatre “The Blue Bird” in the Minsk State Palace of Children and Youth. Musical compositions performed by musician-multiinstrumentalist Yarosh Malishevsky created the atmosphere of a fairytale and allowed the audience to plunge into the world of sounds and memories of childhood.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
