The President of Lithuania visits the National Library of Belarus

On October 20, within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of Belarus, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite visited the National Library of Belarus.


At the National Library f Belarus took place the meeting of the Lithuanian President with President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during which the Heads of State considered the questions of cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania.

Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky welcomed the distinguished guests. During a panoramic excursion to the Library the Lithuanian President familiarized herself with its basic activities, architectural features of the Library’s building, equipment, information resources and interior design.

At the Book Museum the distinguished guest saw the collection of rarities from the stacks of the National Library of Belarus. President Dalia Grybauskaite wrote a memorable entry to the Guests of Honor Book.

The President of Lithuania presented to the National Library of Belarus the faximile edition of Catechism by Martin Mazhvidas (the first book published in the Lithuania language) and 2 catalogs: «Cyrillic Handwritten Books Kept in Vilnius» and «The Catalog of the Sapegas’ Library Collection in the Stacks of the University Library ».

The Director of the National Library of Belarus presented to the distinguished guest the souvenir illustrated edition about the National Library of Belarus.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
