On November 20, 2008, in National Library of Belarus took place the opening of the IV International Bibliological Conference”New Technologies for Documentary Heritage Preservation”.




R.S. Motulsky, the Director of National Library of Belarus opened the Conference. V.F. Matveychuk, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, V.G. Schasny, the Chairman of National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO, M. Lukoshunas, the Adviser of UNESCO office in Moscow, and Kathrin Oswald-Richter, the Director of Goethe Institute in Minsk made welcoming speeches.

During the first day of the 4th International Bibliological Conference took place plenary and sectional sessions: section 1 “Developing and preservation of documentary heritage” and section 2 “Documentary monuments in real and virtual space”. At the presentation session were presented information products of the eminent publishing houses Emerald Group Publishing (Great Britain), “KONEK” Company (Russia) and others, as well as electronic information resources of Goethe Institute in Minsk.

A press-conference took place before the event.

In the framework of the conference were organized Library tours for foreign participants.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
