The event with an extensive business program attracts the interest of specialists working in different fields of culture.

As part of the Forum, a symposium on International Relationships Between Libraries and Publishers in the Digital Age was held at the Russian National Library, on November 14. Heads of the largest Russian and foreign libraries and representatives of the scientific community took part in the event. Roman Motulsky discussed with colleagues the role of library cooperation in global information exchange, its impact on the development of science, culture and education in different countries. According to the director, the restoration of lost cultural property is among the prior tasks of the National Library of Belarus. The library is carrying out projects on replenishing the national bibliography, returning book heritage, virtual reconstruction of lost book collections, facsimile reproduction of old and rare books.

The Forum’s a key event, a conference on the 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory: literature, cinema, theater, was held at the Main Headquarters of the State Hermitage, on November 15. The meeting, which was part of the professional program and section “Literature and Reading,” became a platform for international cultural exchange.

Roman Motulsky introduced the audience to the history of the “Knowledge Diamond” during the Great Patriotic War and presented a series of events dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary of the Great Victory. “Now we are developing a website about the partisan and underground press of Belarus. The library contains a great variety of digital copies of wartime newspapers, leaflets, manuscripts and wall newspapers. The site being created will let everyone see the indisputable evidence – historical documents. Besides that, you will be able to add online electronic copies of documents from the war period. Its presence in the national libraries of the CIS countries will allow us to expand the information about the Great Patriotic War,” said Roman Motulsky.

During the annual Business Forum, various cultural projects are implemented and agreements are signed.

Cooperation agreements have been signed by the National Library of Belarus, the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after Rudomino, and the Russian State Library of Arts. The signed documents provide for the exchange of publications; access to local electronic information resources; exchange of bibliographic data and information in the field of librarianship; conducting joint exhibitions, conferences, seminars and workshops; organizing and conducting internships to improve professional skills of library employees.

"This agreement will allow us to consolidate the results achieved and to cooperate even more closely. The collection of traditional documents, created in the Library of Foreign Literature, is priceless and very important for readers. But it is equally important to create new electronic resources for mutual use within the Union State and for the benefit of all users,” reported the Director of the National Library of Belarus.
