The Festival of the book and the press, an improvised town, where the history and modern state of the Belarusian book will be presented, will take place in the framework of the Belarusian Handwriting Day in Rogachev on September 3–4.


The National Library of Belarus will present its program “Positive from Skaryna” to the citizens and guests of the festival at the children’s playground.

The slogan of the program is: “Who created the Belarusian printed book?” – “Skaryna!”

The figure of the Belarusian first printer will be central in the festive program. Why is the program dedicated to Francysk Skaryna? There are several answers.

Firstly, Belarus awaits a significant event – the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing in 2017. The program is aimed at those who want to be prepared to this important jubilee and keep up with the times!

Secondly, Skaryna is one of the brightest figures of the Belarusian culture, a gifted personality: he was a printer, a scientist, a philosopher, a theologian, a translator, a writer, a botanist and a doctor.

Thirdly, Skaryna was undoubtedly optimistic, cheerful, energetic and positive! To learn things about Skaryna is very interesting and not boring!

The program will include activities for children and their parents, which are held in a simple and fascinating form, includes creative tasks, and games.

September 3 – 13.00–14.00, 15.00–16.00, 17.00–18.00.
September 4 – 10.00–11.00, 17.00–18.00.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
