On November 20, 2008, in National Library of Belarus takes place the opening of the IV International Bibliological Conference ”New Technologies for Documentary Heritage Preservation”.




At the conference are discussed the following issues: modern state and prospects of the use of modern information technologies in libraries, museums and archives in the field of documentary heritage preservation; innovations in the field of user service based on moderninformation technologies and network interaction with other libraries and information centers.


The conference is organized by: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, National Library of Belarus, Non-commercial partnership “Eurasia Library Assembly”, Goethe Institute in Minsk, and Niesvizh regional executive committee.



About 400 delegates from 11 countries (Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Czechia) participate in the conference. Among the participants: representatives of ministries and departments, libraries and scientific establishments, professors and students.



About 50 papers are to be read during plenary and sectional sessions and the issues of development and preservation of documentary heritage, books safekeeping in real and virtual space, and development of digital collections are to be discussed.



On November 21, 2008, in the framework of the conference takes place a session “ Niesvizh- the cultural center of Europe” during which the participants will visit Niesvizh and see a restored Niesvizh palace which is one of cultural and historical monuments of Belarus. During the session will be discussed the issues of the development of regional and international cooperation in the field of documentary and cultural heritage preservation.


During a presentation session will be presented products by the eminent publishing houses Emerald Group Publishing (Great Britain), “KONEK” Company (Russia) and others, as well as electronic information resources of Goethe Institute in Minsk.



Book and art exhibitions, presentations and professional meetings take place in the framework of the conference.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
