On July 2, 2009, the city festival of choral song “In the name of Life!” dedicated to the 65th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from Nazi occupants was held on the square next to National Library of Belarus.
Chorus from Minsk and Belarusian cities and towns Brest, Grodno, Molodechno, Borisov, Lida and Vileyka participated in the concert. Artists performed military songs, music, dances and Belarusian folk songs. Certain performances involved 500 singers at once.
The event was arranged by the administration of culture of Minsk City Executive Committee, administration of Pervomaysk district of Minsk, and Belarusian Union of Musicians.
