The Book Museum invites children and their parents to a lesson at the exhibition "Francysk Skaryna and our time" on April 22.


The lesson will employ active and interactive approaches. It means that the meeting won’t be just a dull lection, but an interesting discussion, where everyone will take part.

Children and their parents will enjoy funny creative tasks and games.

Who is Francysk Skaryna and why should we know it all? Who was he and why are there so many scientific publications and fiction books dedicated to him, educational institutions and streets named after him, his monuments erected? What interesting is it possible to read about Francysk Skaryna?

Visitors will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in the modern world of understanding of symbols and images of the Belarusian first printer, find his traces in household items, school accessories, corporate attributes, in student and youth subcultures, area of scientists and collectors, in artistic image presentation in the theatre and cinema.

The lesson is organized in the framework of the project "On a Visit to the Books", which is aimed at the development of the interest to reading, and popularizing of the national reading heritage, forming pride for achievements and rich traditions of the domestic book culture.

Children 6–12 years old are invited.

The time of the lesson: 18.00–19.00.

The visit is paid. The price for the children is 9.100, for adults – 14.000.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
