This year the National Library of Belarus has edited a reference book “Libraries of Belarus”.
Issue of this three-volume edition is a major event in the library community not only in our country but also all over the world. Uniqueness of the publication is that this is the first edition that comprises detailed information on departmental libraries of all ministries of our country: all city and regional public libraries of Belarus; libraries of legislative, representative and executive authorities; libraries of different industries, organizations and institutions, branch scientific research institutes, institutes of higher education, technical schools, vocational schools, teaching and educational institutions, schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, military units, non-governmental organizations and unions, confessions, prisons, juvenile delinquent prisons etc.
There are basic data on each library: full name, net address, work time, contact phone number, e-mail, Web-address.
Compilers have developed auxiliary indexes for the most convenient and fast information search: geographical index that allows to find quickly data on libraries located in a certain settlement; index to libraries by means of which it is possible to receive data on a particular type of a library in each area; index to persons whose names have been appropriated to libraries.
The edition is designed for library users, persons concerned in cooperation with libraries, and also librarians.
