On March 20, 2009, in National Library of Belarus was held a seminar “Rare book: identifying criteria”.
The aims of the seminar were: discussing of theory and practice of the development of rare books collections in libraries and professional training and exchange of experience of librarians working in rare book departments.
The seminar was organized by National Library of Belarus, Belarusian Library Association, and Committee for book monuments preservation.
Librarians including workers of National Library of Belarus, workers of museums, archives, universities, scientific institutes specializing in study, processing, acquisition and organizing of rare book collections participated in the event.
Deputy Director of National Library of Belarus for library science and public relations Lyudmila Kiryukhina welcomed the guests. Head of the NLB’s bibliology department Galina Kireeva presided at the seminar.
