Press conference dedicated to the Turov Gospel re-edition

On 27 August, at 3 p.m., a press conference dedicated to the re-edition of the Turov Gospel (11th century), the oldest book monument of Belarus, is held at the National Library of Belarus (the Educational hall, auditorium 356).


The event is timed to the Day of Knowledge and the Belarusian Written Language Day.

The book monument republished as a facsimile edition offers a unique opportunity to researchers, scientists and everyone who is interested in history to see the original text and appearance of the Turov Gospel. The project developers are Xerox Company and the National Library of Belarus in cooperation with the Library’s Tutorship Council.

At the event a facsimile edition of the celebrated manuscript will be presented to wide public. It features all the peculiarities of the original as well as commentaries of historians and bibliographers. Copies of this unique monument of Slavic writing, published with the use of up-to-date technologies, are to be transferred to Belarusian and foreign scientific, cultural and educational institutions.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
