Presentation of a video program of Raphael Zarka and Vladimir Leon

Other news

On September 21 at 5 p.m. at the gallery Rakurs takes place the presentation of a video program by Raphael Zarka and Vladimir Leon dedicated to the interconnections between architecture, monuments and sculpture.

The video film by Raphael Zarka Rhombus Sectus on the building of the National Library of Belarus will be shown within the framework of the presentation.

One year ago, a French film screw headed by young French artist Raphael Zarka visited Minsk with the purpose of shooting a video art film about the National Library of Belarus.  The idea of this documentary film had been suggested by the unusual architectural design of the Library’s building. The rhombocubooctahedron geometry, that is the shape of the Library’s building, was first formulated by legendary Da Vinci in his treatise on geometry Divine Proportion. For eight years, Raphael Zarka had been searching for various manifestations of that geometry, and he eventually found the architectural incarnation of Leonardo’s idea in Belarus.

In France the premiere of Rhombus Sectus took place last year in September and was appreciated by critics and journalists. This year Raphael Zarka and director Vladimir Leon who a year ago was simultaneously shooting a film about a film, return to Minsk in order to show the video program to the Belarusian audience.

Counselor for Cooperation and Culture of the Embassy of France in Belarus Ludovic Royer, employees of the National Library of Belarus, architects and designers of the Library’s building participate in the event.
