The exhibition of miniature books from the collection of Azerbaijan Museum of Miniature Books “The outstanding politicians of the world” opened on November 23 at the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.


The exhibition is a joint project of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Azerbaijan and the National Library of Belarus.

Visitors can see exhibits from the private Museum of Miniature Books in Baku (Azerbaijan) founded by Zarifa Salakhova.

Around 60 editions from the Museum’s collection dedicated to the outstanding politicians of the world are displayed at the exhibition. A miniature edition about the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko to Azerbaijan on June 2–4, 2010 is part of the exhibition as well.

Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for Research and PR Lyudmila Kiryukhina delivered a welcome speech. Founder of the Museum of Miniature Books Zarifa Salakhova recounted about editions displayed at the exhibition.

Member of the Standing Commission of the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Education, Culture, Science and Technological Progress Elena Novik, representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Belarus, and employees of the National Library of Belarus took part in the event.

The exhibition runs up to November 25.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
