Roman Motulsky, the Director of National Library of Belarus took part in the work of the International regional seminar “Establishment of partnership between the libraries of the Commonwealth of Independent States” (St.-Petersburg, June 17 – 20, 2008).
In the seminar organized by the UN Dag Hammarskjöld Library and St.-Petersburg University participated heads of national libraries of all member countries of the CIS, as well as representatives of the UN information centers in Moscow and St.-Petersburg.
The purpose of the seminar is to render assistance to the UN depositary libraries and national libraries of member countries of the CIS in their way from traditional material depositories to centers of knowledge in the XXI-th century.
at the seminar Roman Motulsky spoke about activities of the NLB as the biggest information centre and the main official depository of documents of the UN and other international organizations in Belarus. The NLB’s depositary totals today about 167 thousand materials. Besides that, the Director of the NLB made a suggestion of the improvement of depositories and user service with the UN documents in the CIS libraries.
In Russian National Library took place a ceremony of subscription of the agreement on the cooperation between Russian National Library and National Library of Belarus.
