The young “Professors” met the illustrator and graphic artist, Sergei Volkov, at free classes in the Book Museum, on November 24th.

Sergey Volkov is the Honored Artist of the BSSR (1989), laureate of the Vasily Vitka Prize (2004) and Kondrat Krapiva Prize (2007), awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal (2017). The artist has illustrated more than 300 children’s books, written by Belarusian authors Yanka Mavr, Edi Ognetsvet, Ivan Muraveiko, Mikola Malyavko, Mikola Chernyavsky, Pavel Misko, Sergey Davidovich, as well as Belarusian folk tales and fables.

For many years, he has worked at the children’s magazine Vyasyolka and the comic magazine Vozhyk.

During the classes, the children became acquainted with the illustrations by the famous artist – graphic works and watercolors.

An unforgettable part of the classes was the opportunity to try themselves as artists and draw together with the master.

Sergey Volkov has donated to the National Library a collection of his graphic works and books with his autographs.
