Evening with Sergei Shilo

Evening with Sergei Shilo
Other news

On 14 November, the National Library of Belarus hosted a creative evening with artist, bard and poet Sergei Shilo. The event was part of Larissa Finkelstein’s art project “Smart Metal”.

The event gathered amateurs of art and the artist’s friends and colleagues who created a cozy, benevolent atmosphere as if the guests had gathered in the warm house of the talented painter. Larissa Finkelstein told about the project starting with the very concept of its creation, and then she presented one of participants of the exhibition “Smart Metal” and the hero of the festivities, artist Sergey Shilo.

The bard told about the fleeting moments of his life accompanied with the birth of poems, recited his favorite lines and those that came in handy. And “for dessert” he performed some of his pieces of music. The guests could appreciate not only the creativity of Sergey Shilo, but also an expressive performer and charming actor Sergey Zanimonts.

At the end of the event the guests were invited to the exhibition “Smart Metal”.

Sergei Shilo has come into the creative world thanks to his passion of collecting which resulted in the opening of his own museum. On the path of self-determination he had to work as a carpenter, joiner and master, and he was even a director of a company. Today this man appears before us as an artist who creates works of art from simple things, putting a new, deeper meaning into objects, shapes, colors, words and music.

Speaking of Sergei Shilo’s work, art critic Larisa Finkelstein notes: "His exhibitions and songs are a kind of musical and poetic plastic theater, a new form of the author’s image creation and their expression. For whatever he takes up – it’s always creative, talented, fresh, sharp and unexpected".
