The solemn donation of rare books to the National Library of Belarus within the bounds of the charity programme "Bringing new life to the book” took place on 15 September

The programme "Bringing new life to the book” was launched by LLC "BELGIPS-ECO" in 2015. Four valuable folio were found in waste paper boxes of the company "BELGIPS-ECO". After a bibliographic examination it was decided to transfer the books to the National Library of Belarus.

”This is a nice tradition to present gifts on holidays, and the best gift is a book”, the Deputy Director of the National Library Alexander Susha said at the ceremony.

The “diamond of knowledge” received the rarest Compendium theologie moralis  (1765), Псалтырь (Psalter) (1888), Сочинения Помяловского (Pomyalovsky Works) (1909), Сочинения Н.В. Гоголя. Полное собрание в одном томе (Works by Nicolay Gogol. Complete Collection in One Volume) (1921).

The most interesting is the book by Franciscum Przyłęcki Compendium theologie moralis, which received the status of historical and cultural value. It was published in 1765 in Vilnius in the second edition, in the printing house of Piarist Order (Catholic monastic order dealing with training and education of youth, established in 1617 and is still in effect). This theology tutorial in Latin is an example of the Belarusian and Western book and religious culture of the XVIII century.

The company "BELGIPS-ECO" gathers used books, rescuing them from waste paper boxes. By this time the company has extended the life of 27 thousand books, 21 thousand of which after sorting were transferred to 59 organizations, including school and university libraries, hospitals, orphanages, SOS-villages, a hospice, correctional facilities, and the Theological Academy.
