The administration of Hi-Tech Park will donate a collection of books to the National Library of Belarus on December 8.


The Director of HTP Valery Tsepkalo and the Director of the National Library of Belarus (NLB) Raman Matul’ski will participate at the ceremony of donation.

Forty five books published in English will be donated to the funds of the Library: biographical encyclopedias, dictionaries and reference books, which contain a wide range of personalities. Reference books contain information about scientists, politicians, workers of culture and art, and other persons known for their achievements or influence on the course of history. The books tell about the famous figures of the twentieth century from America and the Soviet Union, China and Africa, Israel, and countries of Europe and Asia.

The multi-volume biographical dictionary "The International who’s who", that is a source of information about the world's most prominent figures, as well as the annual biographical dictionary "Who's who in ...", that is a series of biographical encyclopedias of famous personalities from different countries are among the donated books; the earliest edition of the dictionary dates back to 1911.

This collection is digitalized, electronic copies will be placed in the electronic library of the NLB.

The National Library of Belarus will be given books with invaluable significance for anyone who needs the reliable information about the life of the most famous and influential people from many different countries.

The ceremony of donation begins at 15.00 in the anteroom on the second floor in the National Library.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
