On 18 June, at 4 p.m., a solemn ceremony of the donation of the facsimile edition Knіzhnaya spadchuna Francysk Skaryna (The Book Heritage of Skaryna) will be held in the Atrium of the Library (2nd floor).


The reproduced masterpieces of global importance will be handed to the heads of diplomatic missions of the countries connected with the fate of the first Belarusian printer, as well as libraries from all districts of Minsk region.

In 2014, the National Library of Belarus together with Belvnesheconombank has realized the first part of a nationwide project on the reproduction of the facsimile edition that is the complete collection of Skaryna’s books: the first five volumes have been recently published.

It is planned to realize the project for 2013–2017. This initiative is timed to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing. This multivolume facsimile edition will be the first edition which is includes the complete repertory of books published by Francysk Skaryna in Prague (1517–1519) and Vilno (1522–1525). It is based on the electronic copies of the Belarusian first printer’s best-preserved books that are stored in libraries and museums of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and other countries.
