The NLB provides to its users the free access to a new information resource – database “Belarus: from the Past to the Present”.


The database contains information on Belarusian local lore, history, and economy, articles by Belarusian and foreign authors, and bibliographical references on articles from periodicals and series. The database was launched in the beginning of 2007. Updated every day. The database contains as well a collection of full text materials “Sources of Belarusian history of the late XVIIIth  – early XXth centuries”.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
