The international conference on "The Development of National Literatures and Reading in the CIS Countries" was held in Moscow, on October 30–31.

The two-day roundtable meetings, attended by representatives of the libraries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, discussed the issues of libraries in modern society, book publishing and book distribution in the CIS, and library cooperation for the promotion of literature and reading.

The National Library of Belarus was represented by Marina Pshybytko, head of the Bibliology Research Department.

The conference adopted a resolution concerning the translation of the best literary works into the national languages of the CIS countries, the participation of libraries in interstate events, as well as joint sociological and comprehensive research of books and reading including the analysis of the current cross-border collaboration between libraries.

Upon the request of the conference, a special section on “books and reading in modern society, trends and forecasts” may be introduced in professional periodicals and the Bulletin of Library Assembly of Eurasia (in Russian: Вестник Библиотечной ассамблеи Евразии).

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
