On February 5th, in support of the republican action “The Belarusian book for regions”, the National Library of Belarus donated 250 editions to a new frontier post “Dotishki” of the Lida frontier detachment.

Stocks of the future library of the frontier post is replenished with recent editions including separate volumes of “Belarusian Encyclopedia” and “Encyclopedia of the History of Belarus”, the two-volume edition “Belarus Creating” with unique information content and design, books on the history of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, editions dedicated to heroic events in the national history.

Besides, among editions which will become a basis for the library of the new frontier post there are works of classical Belarusian writers and also 150 books of various adventure novels, detectives, fantasy, encyclopedic and reference editions, historical and documentary works, educational literature and fiction published in Belarus.

Within the framework of the action “The Belarusian book for regions” dedicated to the Year of Book – 2012, the National Library of Belarus transmitted over 2 million documents to libraries of the National Boundary Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

At the XVI Belarusian-Russian scientific conference "Modern problems of book culture: main trends and prospects of development", held on November 22-23 at the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, the chief bibliographer of the Department of Reference and Information Services V.N. Polunchenko made a report "The role of library manuscripts in the bibliographic reconstruction of the library of the Nesvizh Ordination".

In memory of Larisa Finkelstein

On November 21, Larisa Finkelstein, a good friend of the library, a well-known Belarusian art critic, art critic, curator of exhibitions, gallery owner, founder and art director of the author's non-profit conceptual gallery "Brama", a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, the Belarusian Union of Designers, the Belarusian Union of Literary and Art Critics, the Association of Art Critics (Russia), passed away.
