On January 22, 2009, in the framework of the opening of the book exhibition took place an event “Big talent, big work, big heart” and the meeting with laureates of the Prize “For spiritual renaissance” and special Prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus to cultural and art workers 2008.




Materials form the Library’s collections (books, photos, postcards, music, periodicals, and electronic publications) dedicated to all the laureates who made an outstanding contribution to Belarus’ spiritual life were displayed at book exhibition.

In the event participated: authors of the publication in ten volumes “Belarusians” (published by National Academy of Sciences of Belarus K. Krapiva Institute of art sciences, ethnography and folklore) headed by director A.I. Lokotko; director of the Republican scientific and practical center of children’s oncology and hematology O.V. Aleynikova; archpriest, prior of a religious community “Belarusian Orthodox Church Minsk eparchy parish of Saint Seraphim Sarovsky temple in Minsk” father Alexander (Shiriton);editor of “Kultura i Mastatstva” (“Culture and Art”) publishing house fine art department N.V. Sharangovich;editor-in-chief of “Mastatskaya Litaratura” publishing house V.A. Shnip; professor of Belarusian State Academy of Music chair of composition, honored cultural worker A.Y. Mdivany; director of Dzerzhinsk Children’s Art School A.V. Girel, and director of E.F. Karsky Grodno Regional Scientific Library L.V. Maltseva.

Guests of the soiree enjoyed performances of the laureates of special prizes - honored amateur ballroom dances group “Mara” of Minsk Tractor Plant; folk group “Gastsinyets” of Rakov Center of Culture; teachers’ vocal group “Elegia” of Dzerzhinsk Children’s Art School, and a skiffle-group of ancient music.


During the event National Library of Belarus handed a book collection to the Republican scientific and practical center of oncology and hematology.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
