Experts from the National Library of Belarus took part in the 2nd International scientific and practical conference “Berestie book collections: problems and prospects of research”.


During the conference the role of the Brest Region in the book heritage of Belarus was considered, and the work on ascription of archeological finds in the territory of the Brest Fortress was summed up. Librarians, archivists, historians, regional specialists from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia, Poland and Ukraine participated in the conference.

Director of the National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky made a welcoming speech, read a plenary report at the plenary session of the conference, and also took part in the presentation of his book “From the Past to the Future. Libraries of Belarus” (Minsk, 2011, Volume 1) and the collective monograph “The History of Belarusian Book” (Minsk, 2011, Volume 2). Experts from the National Library of Belarus – deputy director for research work A.A. Susha, head of the Bibliology division G.V. Kireeva and editor-in-chief of the periodicals and serials editorial office L.G. Kiryukhina participated in the conference activities.

Along with a plenary and three sectional sessions, within the framework of the conference a guest meeting “The book collections of Sapega noble family” in the town of Ruzhany and a visit to T. Kosciuszko’s House-Museum in village Merechiovshchina took place.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
