For more than two decades, the international youth summer camp “Bе-La-Rus” has been held in late July at the junction of the borders of Belarus, Latvia and Russia.

The inspirers of the programme are the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union", the public association "Progress Union of the Youth of Latvia" and the all-Russian public organization "Russian Union of Youth."

The name of the camp, which is composed of the first syllables of the names of the three countries, is the idea of the unity of young people in the bordering states. Each year it is hosted by one of the three youth organizations-founders of the summer camp “Bе-La-Rus”.

Traditionally the campground is located in the hospitable glade near the Barrow of Friendship in Verkhnedvinsk district, Vitebsk region, raised in 1959 in memory of the combat cooperation of Belarusian, Russian and Latvian partisans.

The international youth summer camp “Bе-La-Rus” gathers the most enterprising, sporty and creative boys and girls who are not afraid of the distance, borders, heat and even heavy rain. This year it was visited by members of the primary organization of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union of the National Library of Belarus Alexandra Vishnevskaya and Elena Bavtruk.

Each year the organizers of the camp define a theme for a variety of creative and sports competitions.

Any great and serious business has its own traditions, which are strengthened and multiplied. The most memorable and fun are the novice ordination (or "baptism") with oak branches, the extravagant carols of Latvian friends, the farewell "general circle", and much more.

“Bе-La-Rus” greeted with cheers the honored guests of the camp – the legendary Vladimir Mulyavin and "Pesnyary", American rock singer Tim Strong, Russian bands "Mango-Mango" and "Mamulki Band", "Tony Watkins Smoke Breakers" and others.

The camp has its own heroes, as well as veterans and newcomers. Over the years thousands of young people from Belarus, Latvia, Russia, as well as young adults from other countries have spent the unforgettable days here.
