From 10 October to 12 November, an exhibition "Words, images, feelings", timed to the 80th anniversary of Elena Kobets-Filimonova, runs in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205).


Elena Kobets-Filimonova is a famous Belarusian writer, translator, researcher of Belarusian history and cinema. She writes in Belarusian and Russian languages and mainly for children. In her works she covers the theme of love for the native land, examines ethical and environmental issues, teaches kindness, modesty, diligence.

In the exhibition a literary heritage of Elena Kobets-Filimonova is represented by poetry books The Fairy-Tale about the Moon (Kazka pra mesyats) (1963), The Gold Towel (Zalaty Ruchnik) (1972); short-stories The Lorks above Khatyn (Zhavaranki nad Khatynyu) (1977), The Blue Express (Blakitny ekspres) (1981); novels The Lights behind the Pass (Agni za perevalam) (1987); a collection of fairy tales Read and Play (Chitaika i Gulyaika) (1963), Seven Artists (Sem khudozhnikov) (1965), The Tales of Old Yannis (Skazki starogo Yannisa) (1969), The Wreath of Miracles (Vyanok dzivosau) (1986); a book of essays about Greece In the Kingdom… but not fantastic (V korolevstve… no ne kazachnom) (1969); a book The Way to the Prayer (Shlyakh da malitvy) (2004); documentary essay The Crossed Khatyn (Raspyataya Khatyn) (2005); a book about the work and life of Gregory Kobets When the Sun Run (Kalі utsyakala Sontza) (2006), the book Karelian Partridges 1937–1938 (Karelskіya Kurapaty 1937–1938) (2007), as well as works from collections and magazines.

The exposition contains the works of the writer, which were translated into foreign languages, and her Belarusian translations of other authors’ works. Among them is a collection of Greek poet Y. Ritsos Makronisos (1973), etc.

The exhibition also includes literature on the life and works of the famous author.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
