From February 5, 2009, to February 28, 2009, in the National Library of Belarus (3rd floor, circular hall) is open a book exhibition “Window to China”.




The National Library of China launched its large-scale program “China Window” for National Library of Belarus in 2007 after signing of the Memorandum on mutual understanding between the two Libraries for 2006 – 2010.

In 2008, National Library of Belarus received over 600 publications in English and Chinese languages on philosophy, jurisprudence, history, culture and art of China. In particular, there are presented the People’s Republic of China’s code; publications issued in series, for example, “Classical Chinese Painting” series is 8 volumes, as well ascolorful art albums and tourist guidebooks.

On February 5, 2009, in the framework of cultural exchange program, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the person of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Lu Guchan handed to the NLB a book collection.

At the exhibition “Window to China” are displayed books on culture, economy, philosophy and religion, policy, military science, law, architecture and town-planning, sport, natural resources of China, journals, newspapers, and fiction (over 100 items) from the book collection.

Close economic and political cooperation between the two countries arouses interest in 5-thousand year old Chinese culture and art. Publication handed to National Library of Belarus in the framework of the program “China Window” initiates creation of a unique book collection about the country and study of history, culture, art, literature, policy and economy of China.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
