A book exhibition "The Written Remains" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Aleksandr Petrashkevich, Belarusian writer, playwright, publicist (1930–2012) is open in the Belarusian literature reading room (room 205) from May 4 to June 1.

The playwright's works are characterized by spectacularity, the dynamism of the plot, sharp intrigue, accuracy of the linguistic characteristics of the characters, a combination of folk humour with keen satire, and historical topics. There is some sincere and often bitter truth about the remote and recent past of the Belarusian people in the plays of Aleksandr Petrashkevich.

In the section “In a Hectic Search” there are collected plays “Where does the Sin Come From”, “Anxiety”, “The Codex is Stolen”, dramas “Salt”, “Prophet for the Motherland”, “Life to Heritage”, autobiographical stories “Song”, “Ambush”, "Heart Attack" from the war and post-war period of fellow villagers and writer's friends. Works on historical topics “The Written Remains”, “Will on the Cross”, “Sword of Ragvalod”, “Predatory Land” and others are also presented. Of particular interest is the memory book “Springs and Mud” (2008), which is distinguished by the irony and sarcasm of the author both to himself and to those with whom he had to deal. A feature film by Aleksandr Petrashkevich “Time Chose Us” will also be of interest to the visitors of the Library.

The exhibition is completed with the works of A. Petrashkevich, translated into Russian and Ukrainian.

The “The Drama of Life” section introduces publications in encyclopedias and articles about the life and work of the writer.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by a library card or by the Social and Cultural Center ticket.
