From 3 November to 10 January, in the National Library of Belarus runs an anniversary book exhibition “The star is shining, and the wreath never fades...” timed to the 120th birthday of Maxim Bogdanovich.

The work by Maxim Bogdanovich holds a special place in the treasury of classical Belarusian literature. He was not only a brilliant poet, but also a talented literary critic, historian and linguist.

During his short life Maxim Bogdanovich wrote many works, having enriched Belarusian poetry with poems of thorough content and interesting form. The well-known poet apprehended traditions and experience of the outstanding figures of Russian, Belarusian and foreign poetic cultures. By his versatile creative experience and application of many-sided forms and literary styles, rhythms and sizes he raised Belarusian prosody – flexible, harmonious and musical – on a higher step.

Maxim Bogdanovich’s poetry always fascinates readers, researchers and historians of literature and art. The creativity of the original poet is of greatest importance as an expressive monument to the epoch in which the author lived and worked and which this delicate artist of a word brightly depicted with his pen.

Alongside with modern editions the exhibition presents a facsimile of the book of Maxim Bogdanovich’s selected poems “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”), the complete set of works by Maxim Bogdanovich in 3 volumes, and more than 30 books of the great poet’s works. The exposition also includes about 40 books of translations of Maxim Bogdanovich’s poetry into Slavic and European languages.
