From January 3, 2008 to February 3, 2008, in the Official Documents Department (second floor, room 207) is open a book exhibition «Save the planet – save the future” dedicated to the International Year of the Planet Earth.
According to the resolution 60/192 by the UN General Assembly 2008 was proclaimed the International Year of the Planet Earth.
The exhibition reveals one of the most urgent issues of the present. Today the human society disposes of extensive scientific information concerning our planet, but we don’t use it in full measure. People should be acquainted with knowledge and scientific researches in the field of the environment protection. Our planet must be a safe, healthy, and flourishing place of residence for the next generations.
The exhibition includes the following sections:
1.Subterranean waters: resources conservation
2. Climate, the Earth, and health: development of a safer environment
3. Resources and the Earth’ interior: resources conservation
4. Soil: a living covering of the Earth
5. The Earth and life: the origin of diversity
6. Water resources: water for the future
At the exhibition are displayed over 100 materials in Russian, English, French, and German languages: books, brochures, mimeographed materials of the UN, booklets, and periodicals.
The exhibition informs visitors on the environment protection, resources conservation, and consequences of natural and man-caused disasters.
We invite to the exhibition scientists, students, experts in the environment protection, geologists, and everyone who is interested in natural sciences and ecology.
