From April 4, 2008 to May 2, 2008, in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305) is open an exhibition "Jazz Silhouettes: Masters of Jazz”.

Jazz is a historical, aesthetical, and social phenomenon of the 20th century. This is a modern art which is a complex system including various styles and trends. Jazz gave birth to a number of modern musical genres, including pop and rock music. Both serious and light modern music borrowed from jazz instrumental and vocal techniques, modulation, instruments, and so on.

Jazz differs from other classical music genres which have been developing during centuries. Jazz is not only a specific music genre, but also a particular space which includes creative people who create music.

Today Jazz celebrates its 100-th anniversary. There are thousands of talented Jazz musicians of different origins and confessions, men and women, which won recognition in their lifetime or after death. This talent gallery is really impressive.

At the exhibition are displayed over 120 materials: vinyl discs, CD, music books, books, journals, and publications dedicated to the history of Jazz and the eminent Jazz musicians.

We invite to the exhibition everyone who is interested in Jazz.
