From October 09, 2007 to October 31, 2007, in the National Library of Belarus is open a book exhibition “Historical Mysteries of Belarus"

Mysterious Belarus - the land between Moscow and Warsaw …
Belarus is a country with a reach history and unique culture. It used to be named Kryuja, Polotsk Land, Great Duchy of Lithuania, and finally, Belarus. Infinite wars came through this land and destroyed everything, but our people defended themselves, rose, and restored their country. During centuries Belarus lost its cultural centers – Smolensk and Vilnius, but anyway Belarusian people could save a lot. About 40 modern Belarusian settlements (including several villages) are over 700 years age, and four Belarusian towns – Polotsk, Vitebsk, Turov, and Zaslavl – over 1000 years.
Today Belarusian people are more and more interested in the history of their land. Many people understood that history is not only that which is written in textbooks, but also that which is around us, an inseparable piece of our life.
The exhibition “Historical Mysteries of Belarus” acquaints visitors with ancient Belarusian towns, medieval castles, palaces, and temples. The exposition totals over 200 materials: books, brochures, booklets, and illustrative material.
We invite to the exhibition all who are interested in the history of Belarus. The exposition is located in the circular passage (the second floor).
